Parker Ceilings deliver hospitality, administration and public area ceilings at £100m new stadium for Brighton and Hove Albion

One of Parker Ceilings most extensive and impressive contracts to date was in the development of Brighton and Hove Albion’s new state-of-the-art home at Falmer Stadium - currently known for sponsorship purposes as the American Express Community Stadium, or simply The Amex. Situated next to the University of Brighton, the £100m stadium is undoubtedly one of the area’s most prestigious and substantial building projects.

Parker Ceilings were delighted to have been contracted to undertake work on a number of the most integral adminstration and public areas, installing ceilings in the hospitality areas, corporate boxes, the North Stand Administration Office Suites and various of the conference facilities.

For Stewart Pierce, financial director of Parker Ceilings and life-long Albion fan, the contract combines business and pleasure. “As a local company it’s its always great to be part of a major construction project in Brighton and pleasing to see that the football club is working with local companies. As a fan, it’s its even better to know that Parker Ceilings played such a major part in delivering a stadium which has provided the football club with a world class arena and will hopefully help it to go from strength to strength”.

The development brought to an end a long period of struggle for Albion in terms of achieving planning consent. The club had been temporarily housed at the Withdean athletics stadium and it took the then Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, to grant permission in October 2005 for the new stadium, although appeals by Lewes Council and local residents, caused further delay. Permission was again granted in 2007 and preliminary development began in November 2008.

Gratifying, then, for fans and residents alike to know that in September and October of this year the stadium will host matches in 2015 Rugby World Cup. The club have come a long way and Parker Ceilings are honoured to have been part of the journey.

It has been a breath of fresh air for me to use what is, to me, a new contractor in yourselves. The school are over the moon with the works that have been completed. This would not have been achieved without your efforts in accommodating the rather restrictive timetable.
